GSP Club Code of Conduct
  • Members will consider the welfare of their dogs and the breed above any personal gain or profit and will take responsibility for any dogs they own.

  • Members will only breed from GSP's of sound temperament, which show natural ability and will always strive to produce GSP's conforming to the standard as published by the Kennel Club.

  • Members will not allow their dogs to serve bitches of less than 2 years or over the age of eight.  Neither dogs, nor bitches of poor health, of unsound temperament or with any serious hereditary fault shall be used for breeding.

  • Stud dog owners will use discretion in the number of times their dogs is used in the course of each year.

  •  Members will not allow their bitches to whelp more than once in every twelve months or after the age of eight.  the Kennel Club state that a bitch should have no more then 6 litters in a lifetime, however the GSPC recommend fewer.

  • Members shall ensure any stock from which they breed shall be registered with the Kennel Club.

  • Members will not, when advertising, misrepresent themselves or their stock and will deal only in a fair and honest matter with clients who shall be advised of any fault the dog may have.  Clients buying stock shall be encouraged to present the dog to a veterinary surgeon within 3 days of purchase.  Should a vet, at such an examination, advise that the dog is not suitable for the purpose for which it was brought, members will verify this opinion and, if necessary, take back such a dog and refund the purchase price.

  • Members will be encouraged to take advantage of any relevant official scheme devised to test the dog's soundness.

  • Members will, when engaged in competitive events with their dogs, conduct themselves in a way as not to bring discredit to the breed or the club, and will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all time.
