GSP Rescue

It is a sad fact that the number German Shorthaired Pointer's being offered to the Rescue Services during recent years have reached into triple figures throughout the UK. Every effort goes into finding new homes for these dogs and most importantly the right homes.

In the course of a year the GSP Rescue receives in the region of 500 telephone enquiries either as a breed or about rescued dogs.

GSP's can be very demanding, they require a lot of exercise and are extremely intelligent. In the majority of cases the reasons as to why people find that they cannot cope with their GSP is purely due lack of simulation and exercise. After all the dog was developed for working all day in a field. However, there are many other reasons as to why the Rescue Centres receive dogs, it may be due to work, domestic  reasons, unemployment, illness or neglect.

One of the GSP's most endearing attributes is their biddable and affectionate nature, it is this which make them seem like an excellent choice for a pet dog. And with the right amount of exercise  and attention the GSP can make a wonderful pet.
